Charity “Learning Unleashes Potential: Embracing Knowledge for a Promising Tomorrow”
Charity 2024 is back again guys! Who knows what charity is? So, charity is one of the PBI HIMAPRODI work programs where the program is carried out as a form of our service to the community, as well as the Community Service Program (KKN) by channeling educators to the students who are in schools whose places are still included in remote areas in Sidoarjo. What's the excitement? Let's take a peek at the excitement of Charity this time!
So, this Charity event was held at the end of July, precisely on 28-31, 2024 at SDN Kupang 4 Jabon, Sidoarjo, East Java. This activity lasted for 3 days. On the first day, before leaving for the location, we are allowed to determine the gathering point first guys, because we will leave together. Well, we arrived at the location and it was already dzuhur time, and before we went to the next activity, we decided to pray first. Then in the afternoon, the activity opened with an opening attended by the father of the village neighborhood (RW). Since it was Sunday, our agenda was only the opening, then in the evening it was continued with an evaluation and briefing related to the next day's agenda.
Entering the second day which is our first activity teaching at school and TPQ in the village, our team is divided into 2 guys, the first team that will teach at school in the morning and the second team that will teach at TPQ in the afternoon. And from each team it will be rolled or made a shift day by day, so it can be done alternately. For the morning time on Monday, July 29, the school teaching team taught some materials to the children, such as vocabulary, parts of the body, and others. For your information guys, the number of students in one school is only around 21 childrens, then added with 3 kindergarten students. The class was put together, so we taught 24 students. We also invite them to do ice breaking with the aim that they are not bored during learning activities and will further help arouse their enthusiasm for learning. Then in the afternoon, the TPQ teaching team carried out a muroja'ah activity together, where we invited them to memorize short letters, learn tajweed, and etc. After that we prayed ashar together at TPQ. And in the evening, we evaluate the activities that have been carried out.
Then on Tuesday, July 30, or our second teaching activity, we asked permission to take time after the break to invite the students to do another activity, namely decorating the class, so on that day we didn't teach material, but replaced it with making various crafts. We decided to divide into several groups who would later be assigned to help them make a craft. There are those who are tasked with attaching flags on the wall, making works of origami paper and clobot paper (colorful paper), and also those who are tasked with arranging ronce (beads) which we will connect to form a flat shape. Then in the afternoon, our activities are not much different from the previous day, namely teaching at TPQ. And also don't forget we invite them to create fun content for sure. In the evening, there is excitement outside our agenda guys, we are invited to look for fish and crabs in the pond which we will later grill and eat together. Surely the activity is really exciting, because we are invited directly by cute kids. After that, we did an evaluation and briefing for tomorrow.
Then on Wednesday, July 31, was our last day of charity in Jabon village. We came to the school with the aim of expressing our gratitude as well as farewell to them, not forgetting that we also gave a certificate for the school. The plan was to conduct a formal closing accompanied by the head of the neighborhood association (RT) and the head of the community association (RW) of the village. However, due to obstacles they were unable to attend, we decided to cancel the agenda and replaced it by visiting they house directly to give a package of groceries, a certificate as a form of gratitude. We also said goodbye to them.
